Add an extra SAT date for Patapsco High juniors in Les Misérables

Add an extra SAT date for Patapsco High juniors in Les Misérables
The Issue
As a junior student in Patapsco High School’s production of “Les Misérables: School Edition”, I am asking for the addition of an second SAT test date, funded by the school, for all juniors involved in the production, technicians and actors alike. Why? Patapsco High School’s current SAT date on March 25th presents a disadvantage to students involved with the production as far as test performance. The show opens on March 26th, meaning the days leading up have rehearsals until 10:00 pm, meaning students wouldn’t end up with enough time to prepare and properly rest for the test, as is recommended by College Board.
A lack of rest can lead to compromised test scores, as students will likely be heavily fatigued and unable to review materials properly beforehand. While students do have the opportunity to apply to take the test a second time, it is not school-sponsored and will cost families 68 dollars per student, which could present financial challenges to families who are unable to afford the expense.
To provide these students with a fair and genuine opportunity to excel, I urge the administration and school board to consider adding an extra SAT date specifically for the juniors involved in this production. The solution is feasible and fair: the school should sponsor this additional SAT session, ensuring it does not burden financially constrained families who are devoted to supporting their children's passions in the arts and education.
Without intervention and another opportunity, there is a risk to many students’ chances at scholarships and college admissions, placing an unnecessary obstacle in their academic journey through no fault of their own.
Adding this date acknowledges the hard work and dedication of all juniors involved. By signing this, you support equitable educational opportunities and allow more doors to open for these talented students. Let's support our juniors and let our passion for arts and academics coexist, while not hindering one another, and letting every thespian shine in the classroom and offstage.
