We need you! Sidewalk proposal goes to ALX Traffic & Parking Board - Mon, Sept. 28
UPDATE: We need your support for a safer Old Dominion Boulevard!
On Monday, September 28 at 7:00pm the latest version of the City's Old Dominion Boulevard Safety Improvement proposal will go before the Alexandria Traffic & Parking Board.
The proposal includes several practical, long-overdue measures to make the corridor safer for pedestrians, including:
- An interim sidewalk along the 3600 block
- A marked crosswalk at Tennessee Avenue
- Painted curb extensions to slow turning vehicles and improve visibility
Please consider showing your support by:
1) Speak at the public hearing. Attend in person at 2900-B Business Center Drive, or register in advance to participate by Zoom. Meeting information and details here.
2) Email the Traffic & Parking Board at trafficandparkingboard@alexandriava.gov by 12:00pm on Monday, September 28. You can begin with this template and consider adding your own personal testimony:
"I support the long-overdue Old Dominion Blvd Safety Improvement proposal and urge the Traffic & Parking Board to adopt these safety measures. The proposed sidewalk, crosswalk, painted curb extensions, and related improvements would make this corridor safer for all."
