For most homeowners in Fulton County, the school tax is over 50% of the annual real property tax bill. This has caused undue hardship on senior citizen homeowners. Many of this class of homeowners are on a limited fixed income. In coming years, some may be forced to sell their home to pay their taxes. Let's protect our senior citizens.  

Background:  Cobb and Douglas Counties has an optional School Tax exemption for citizens 62 years old or older for their primary residence property.

You only get this tax exemption unless you; 1) apply for it and, 2) submit proof in the form of authorized documentation so it is optional.
