The current education system in Shetland faces significant challenges that are negatively impacting our children's futures and valued teaching staff's welfare. Schools are struggling to provide the quality education that every child deserves due to inadequate staffing levels and insufficient space. Teachers are being stretched to breaking point and students are not receiving the attention and resources they need to thrive.

We urge our elected members to review and restructure the education system across Shetland.  Reallocate public money back into the schools, ensuring more of the budgets are being allocated to frontline education -  increase staffing levels within schools, improve and increase teaching space.  Investing in our education system not only prepares students for future success but also strengthens the community as a whole.

We ask for meaningful consultation and engagement with all parties concerned going forward to ensure change is carried out positively and productively.
