The Issue

Imran Khan, former prime minister of Pakistan, has been arbitrarily detained since August 5th 2023 and his life is worryingly under threat while in custody

August 19, 2024 Statement from Aleema Khan (Imran Khan's sister): “𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐛𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐧…”

Fabricated charges have been used to justify his detention, raising alarming human rights concerns. This is also a clear act of political repression, aimed at silencing the voice of the people who overwhelmingly elected him in February 2024.

The UN Report on Imran Khan's detention states: “The deprivation of liberty of Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi… is arbitrary and falls within categories I, II and III." The UN Human Rights Council's Working Group on Arbitrary Detention concluded that "his detention had no legal basis and appears to have been intended to disqualify him from running for political office."

We demand:
- Immediate release of Imran Khan and dismissal of all fabricated cases used to unlawfully detain him.
- Compensation and reparations for Imran Khan, as per international law.
