I am deeply concerned for the future of the Macedonian identity within the European Union framework. The recent EU progress report failed to mention the Macedonian language or identity, largely due to the initiative of another EU country. This omission is not just a minor oversight—it strikes at the heart of what it means to be Macedonian.

Realizing that we, as Macedonians, are unwanted in the European Union as we are and not as a modern amalgam of neighboring countries is painful and alarming. Our rich ancestry, vibrant language, and cherished national symbols are at risk. We are asked to change them for the sake of "Europisation," which fundamentally changes who we are. The essence of our nation could be dissolved in an effort to meet imposed standards that deny our historical and cultural uniqueness.

Continued neglect and disregard from the EU in acknowledging our identity and language is an existential threat. We cannot allow ourselves to be eroded to the point of cultural extinction, joining a nameless, featureless mix that lacks distinct roots. Our national heritage, language, and symbols are not just elements of our cultural identity—they are the very foundation of our existence as a people.

The urgency of this situation demands immediate action. If we do not wake up now, we risk the perilous path towards losing what defines us. This petition urges the European Union to respect and acknowledge the Macedonian language and identity within their reports and initiatives. We call for a fair representation that honors our rich heritage and ensures the survival of the Macedonian identity for future generations.
