Achieve Transparent Resource Allocation in the Philippines
The Issue
Growing up in the Philippines, I've witnessed countless stories of heartache and devastation unfold around me. Whether it's through social media or in our very own community, families are stuck in poverty and have inefficient access to services. All of these situations are caused by one major issue and that is the lack of transparency in the allocation of resources, which results in many people suffering and making it more harder for them to survive.
In many areas of our country, the misallocation and misuse of resources occur due to the lack of transparency in how the government handles public spending.
The amount of money that is going towards many of our different government agendas is not being handled correctly. Not even close to the amount of funding that has been set aside for different programs, reaches the hands of those who are supposed to be helping our country grow.
This is why we must pursue transparency in public spending. By doing this we will ensure that every government sector is managing the government's funds in an appropriate manner and help our country become a better place for everyone living in it.
Transparency is a basic right to what the government is doing with our country's money. Having audits done on the different branches of our government and making the reports public is just one way we can do this. There are many other ways we can achieve total transparency and make sure that the people who need the resources the most are actually getting them. By putting clear procedures in place and making everything public, we can take that step to fight the people on the government who misuses their power to advantage of public funds for their own desires.
So, join me in calling on the Philippine government to ensure that resource allocation is transparent. Our government needs to understand that the citizens of the Philippines deserve to know how the money that is supposed to be going towards better services for our people, is actually being spent. Our country is in a bad place right now, and the lack of transparency in the government's spending is stopping us from becoming the country we need to be.
