Meeting is expected to be held in August with the Hon. Shannon Fentiman MP

I wanted to share an important update with everyone supporting this campaign.

This morning, I had a phone conversation with a staff from the office of the Hon. Shannon Fentiman MP regarding our petition and the concerns being raised about accommodation and support for rural and remote patients travelling for healthcare.

During the discussion, I was advised that a meeting is expected to be held in August with the Hon. Shannon Fentiman MP to discuss the issues being raised through this campaign and the experiences of patients and families who are required to leave their communities to access specialist healthcare.

While no outcome to reform PTSS have been determined at this stage, this is an important opportunity to highlight the challenges faced by rural and remote patients, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their carers, when travelling away from home for medical treatment.

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition, shared your experiences and supported this advocacy effort. Every signature and every story helps ensure these issues remain visible and continue to be considered by decision-makers.

I will provide a further update following the meeting once more information becomes available.
