Robert Downey Jr. has done exceptional work throughout the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his performance in Avengers: Endgame is the best of his career. Downey has established himself as the moral and intellectual backbone of the MCU, spending eleven years creating the best developed character arc in modern film history. His acting in this franchise, and especially in Avengers: Endgame, is far more impressive than in most pretentious Oscar-bait films. For his years of subtle, realistic, and meaningful artistry, Robert Downey Jr. deserves the Best Actor Oscar award.
