Abolish the Railway Labor Act!

Abolish the Railway Labor Act!
The Issue
Unions are meant to protect worker’s rights. The antiquated Railway Labor Act (RLA) set in 1926 in response to growing interests in labor union activism was established to prevent disruption in federal trade and commerce within the railway system.
Originally, set in place for the labor relations in the Railroad industry, the RLA was expanded in 1934 to include airlines. The motive behind the act initially was to prevent labor strikes under the RLA by allowing government mediations to intercede negotiating contracts—HOWEVER, corporate greed and anti-union movements have taken advantage of this act. Corporations know without credible threat of labor strike, employees have NO LEVERAGE against corporations and top executives. Unions are meant to protect from this very intent. Union busting and illegal intimidation tactics are at an all-time high and the RLA is no longer serving its initial purpose. Contract negotiations between companies, the unions and the government mediators are dragging into years (some over half a decade) with no progress in sight leaving union members out in the dust, deteriorating their right to assemble as a collective membership and strike.
The RLA is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and should be ILLEGAL, as other countries around the world do not adhere to the same unlawful act because it strips union members of their union rights. It is important now more than ever to restore and empower our labor rights. A win for one union, is a win for all! Will you please sign to Abolish the RLA and protect union rights for all?
