Abolish the 20mph Speed Limit on All Roads Excluding School Zones

Abolish the 20mph Speed Limit on All Roads Excluding School Zones
The Issue
The new 20mph speed limit seems, is less about road safety and more about revenue generation for the government. With longer travel times due to the lower speed limit leading to massive traffic congestion, this policy is adding stress and anxiety to our daily lives. Personally, my travel time to visit my mother has nearly doubled since the implementation of this change. My mother is both elderly and disabled and with having to juggle both work commute and visiting her, it's become a daily stressful routine.
While the safety of children around school zones is paramount - and we fully support maintaining a 20mph limit in these specific areas - a blanket 20mph limit on all roads is causing more challenges than it addresses. In addition, statistically, the World Health Organization indicates lower speed limits are not consistently linked to lower accident rates (WHO). We need a balanced approach to speed control that takes into account the safety of all road users and also respects the needs of residents.
This is a call for the government to reconsider the imposition of a 20mph speed limit on all roads and return the limit to 30mph, except in school zones. This is a plea to provide a better driving experience for people like my mother, who are familiar with cautious driving at sensible speeds, rather than punitive measures that are causing distress and undue burden. Please sign this petition and join the call for a review of the unnecessary 20mph speed limit.
