I am a concerned citizen of Philadelphia, deeply troubled by the government's lack of protection for its people. The current law that allows squatters rights to properties they have not purchased or have any legal rights to is an outright crime against humanity and the lawful owners. This personal issue has driven me to call for change.

Squatters rights, or adverse possession laws, are currently active in Pennsylvania. These laws allow individuals who occupy a property without permission from the owner for a certain period of time to claim ownership over it. While these laws were originally created with good intentions - to ensure that land does not remain unused - they are now being misused and causing harm.

In many cases, rightful owners are unable to reclaim their properties due to these outdated laws. This is not just an isolated problem but one that affects numerous homeowners across our state each year.

We need our lawmakers in Pennsylvania to take action against this injustice by abolishing squatters' rights and protecting the interests of legitimate property owners instead. It's time we stand up for what's right and protect those who lawfully obtained ownership rather than those unlawfully occupying properties.
