UPDATE: The Ashton at Waterford Lakes has denied the request to remove paid visitor parking stating: "While we understand the inconvenience it may cause, the decision was made by our corporate office in an effort to provide a solution to the resident (complaints?) our office was receiving on a normal basis...Should you wish to provide feedback to our corporate office you can visit www.udr.com and select the contact option from the site." 

If you wish to further back this petition, I strongly urge you to go to WWW.UDR.COM and fill out the contact section in the upper right hand corner of the page vouching for the removal of paid visitor parking at The Ashton at Waterford Lakes and linking the petition. They advised that only residents fill out this form as others will be disregarded.

Having friends or family over shouldn't come at a cost. The current paid visitor parking policy at Ashton at Waterford Lakes is not only a financial burden for us residents but also discourages social connections and a sense of community within our home environment. The joy of gathering, building relationships, and feeling at home is fading due to visitor parking being turned into a source of revenue rather than a common courtesy. Last month, the price for overnight parking even went up from $10 a night to $15 a night! 

The solution to visitor parking is clear and already within reach: just make the current designated visitor parking spots unpaid. Additionally, by reallocating less favorable parking spaces into visitor parking spaces that do not interfere with residents' preferred parking areas (such as directly in front of buildings) we can effectively resolve the residents' parking conflicts without imposing unnecessary fees on our guests. If implemented correctly, this action would eliminate the previous concerns about visitors taking prime parking spots from residents.

It's time for the management of Ashton at Waterford Lakes to prioritize community wellbeing over monetary gains. Providing residents' guests with parking that's both available and complimentary as it once was is a simple but profound change that fosters a friendlier, more welcoming environment for all.
