Abolish or Amend the Invocation of the Alien Enemies Act-March 15, 2025

The Issue

The Trump administration over the weekend unlawfully deported over 100 Venezuelans with zero due process under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. It’s even more awful considering the initial group of Venezuelan men detained under the AEA were sent to a mega-prison in El Salvador that crams up to 70 detainees into a single cell and is notorious for torture. The Alien enemies act allowed them to do this without any sort of trial simply on the suspicion that they are members of the Tren de Aragua. (TdA) The entire basis of the law is based on a myth of Immigrants being criminals although certain members of the TdA most likely have infiltrated parts of the US it does not mean EVERY Venezuelan  immigrant is a also a member. Due to this fact it would be logical to possibly investigate people who we suspect are members of the TdA, but this is not what our government does they just start deporting any Venezuelan immigrant. I believe this should be changed and if you think so too, I need your signature to make a change in our nation. This act has also been in use in the past and people knew how awful it was even back then. Remember the awful internment of Japanese Americans during WWII? You can thank acts very similar to the AEA for that; it was used not only to justify the internment of people of Japanese descent, but also for detentions and deportations of Japanese, Austro-Hungarian, German, and Italian immigrants without due process.

For more information on this act and see the actual negative connotation they use when talking about immigrants and referring to them as enemies please read further:
