Pharmacies are beginning to receive shipments

Hello friends!
I spoke with one of the VPs with AbbVie, the head of corporate responsibility at AbbVie, a pharamacist at Accredo, and a supervisor at Pharmacy Solutions this morning. I cannot tell you how kind, patient (because I know I’m so pushy and obnoxious), and caring the higher ups at AbbVie have been. They have been accessible and gracious and have checked in on my child. I have been so impressed by this human side of the pharmaceutical industry I didn’t know I would encounter.
What I can tell you is AbbVie did start the roll out on May 1. The distribution process is certainly complicated because it heads from manufacturing to distribution/wholesalers, then ships to pharmacies, and from there has to be inventoried and a new selection must be created within their computer systems for pharmacists to be able to select the new formulation.
I can confirm that Accredo received a shipment at our distribution location (Nashville) yesterday evening. AbbVie and Pharmacy Solutions were kind enough to reach out to me today with those updates. I spoke with a pharmacist with Accredo Pharmacy this morning who confirmed they can see my daughter’s script but the medication isn’t logged in to the system yet for selection. The pharamacist states he is sending a screen grab on the prescription as well as the information that the shipment was received to his people at Accredo to see if we can push the inventory/computer selection process along. I will keep everyone posted when I know more. I will call back today before end of business to see if any progress has been made.
This medication formulation is very new and I understand it takes time to get all systems updated...however, it is immensely difficult to be patient when it’s your kiddo and the next injection is Monday. I am just so excited about this change, I cannot even tell you!
I would encourage you to speak to your pharmacy and see where they’re at with everything as it is a limited distribution. It will, of course, expand as time goes on and be more widely available. Just keep checking back, ask your Ambassador to keep you in the loop. We are SO close!!!!
I am beyond thankful for all of the care and attention paid to this important issue and I cannot wait to update you all on how my kiddo’s next injection goes!
So much love,
Caity
