Good news: Apparently, in the AOGU meeting this week, Mrs Krimmer said she'd written to the archbishop and had retracted her support for the open letter. If true, this is fantastic news and we are very grateful to her for listening to the community and being willing to admit to and rectify her mistake.

Unfortunately... This is still hearsay. We believe the information provided by the AOGU is reliable, but Mrs Krimmer has yet to go on the public record and personally say this/retract her support. We look forward to her confirming her position.

Either way: the Let's Educate Equality protest is still on tomorrow as a show of solidarity with LGBTIQA+ staff and students and to drive home the message that discrimination shouldn't be allowed in schools! This is particularly important considering that new religious exemptions may be drafted: we have to make sure this kind of intolerance never gets entrenched in legislation in the name of 'religious freedom' again.

These recent events have demonstrated that real change can happen when people come together and stand up against discrimination. The strength of the Abbotsleigh community is amazing, and hopefully every LGBTIQA+ student or teacher - past or present - knows how loved and valued they are.

Hope to see you all there tomorrow as we present this petition!
