Have you ever wanted to watch a YouTube video or do something on a AAPS school computer but that content constantly get blocked by Securly? Securly is this extention that schools implement into their devices to block content, record student browsing history. Seems pretty ok, right? Well no. Securly likes to block the stupidest things. If you were to type in a sentence or anything in google search that contains the word "bypass" on google with securly on it, their is a 95% its going to block the sentence/word. Why you may ask? I think that is because they are scared of students finding out how to disable their blocker. It also blocks dictionaries in a lot of cases. Have you also wanted to watch a video on youtube but 3 seconds in securly blocks it? This is also a huge issue, because in these hard times, lets say you need to watch an educational video for homework but securly blocks it and this device is your only one and you cannot watch it elsewhere. What are you going to do? You could contact the help desk to unblock, but that takes way to much time to be useful. Their are hundreds of issues about this content blocker, and the bad things outweigh the good things(Don't get me wrong, securly is useful in some ways). So why waste our time getting frustrated about this? I say we should remove this content blocker from all AAPS(Ann arbor public schools) computers. It is time we stand up and do something about this.
