I have two beautiful, healthy dogs, (which I love like they are my children). Each weighs less than 5kg. Both dogs are able to fly with me in a plane cabin throughout Europe. But living in the UK you need to venture to Europe via ferry. A visit to my family in Madrid is a 24 hour journey.

For dogs less than 5kg, it is not advisable or suggested that they are checked into a plane in the hold. It’s not recommended to give small dogs medication to calm them down in an airplane and they can also suffer from stress and separation anxiety on their own. All dogs of this size in Europe are allowed to travel with their owners in the cabin inside a soft ventilated bag. Legislation should allow similar dogs to travel with their owners to and from the UK. This needs to CHANGE!
