It’s been a long time… I shouldn’t have left you. 

Good news all around, we were able to reach over 1,213 signatures as of today. Reached 1,000 signatures back in August and so far many of Aaliyah’s friends, collaborators and colleagues such as Eric Seats, Bud’da, J. Dub, Digital Black & Smokey from Playa, and Ananda Lewis have all signed, shared & posted about the petition. Also, BET Networks, Tank, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and Rashad Haughton (Aaliyah’s older brother) have all acknowledged the petition and what we are trying to accomplish for Aaliyah.

Creating a healthy dialog amongst fellow fans of Aaliyah, her family, friends and peers in the industry has always been and will continue to be our main priority. In addition to continuing the conversation on our hopes and prayers of Aaliyah finally receiving a tribute worthy of her influence and impact in today’s music, fashion & culture. 

We have come so far and words can not express how grateful I am that this petition has reached as many people as it has done thus far. I’m shooting for more signatures within the next month (10,000 signatures by October) so we are truly just getting started.
