The Purpose: We, the undersigned citizens, are deeply concerned by the growing political polarization that threatens the functionality of our government. We believe that true statesmanship requires looking past party lines to serve the common good. To signal a commitment to cooperation, we ask our elected officials to participate in a powerful, visible, and historic gesture: cast your vote from the center aisle.

Why This Matters: The layout of the congressional chambers physically divides our lawmakers into two opposing sides. By deliberately stepping into the center aisle to cast a vote, you signal to your constituents, your colleagues, and the world that you are not bound by rigid partisanship but are willing to meet in the middle to move the nation forward. We ask that you join your colleagues from across the aisle in this symbolic stand during the next major piece of bipartisan legislation. Let the center aisle be a place of unity, not a divide.

Define the "When": Lawmakers are not being asked to do this for every minor procedural vote. We are asking them to do this for major, landmark votes—such as high-profile bipartisan infrastructure, budget, or national security bills—where cross-party cooperation is vital.
