Can you live on $40 a day?

Hello everyone, Julia Banks a Liberal MP said in May she could live on $40 a day. I wrote an email to her today asking her to prove it. (A copy of which is below the last paragraph. If you don't like what she said, then you might want to consider writing to her and let her know what you think of her words and whether she would be willing to retract her statement. If you do write, let me know by pasting a few words in the comments to this petition that you wrote to her and something of what you said. Thank you. Greetings Julia Banks It was reported In the Guardian Thursday 3rd of May, that you said on the ABC that you could "live on 40 bucks a day knowing that the government is supporting me with Newstart looking for employment." I would like to invite you to live up to your words and live on unemployment benefits on $40 a day in the same conditions as the unemployed for at least a year because the majority of the unemployed are thrown on to the scrapheap for much longer than that. After all, a person should lead by example and not by rhetoric. Wouldn’t you agree? In finishing, do you still stand by your statement?
