A safer Valley Drive and Ardmore Ave - Manhattan Beach

The Issue

It is time to level up Manhattan Beach street safety.

Valley and Ardmore are demonstrably unsafe for pedestrians, bikers, and even other vehicles. Pick any point of time and wait 15 minutes and you will need both hands to count the number of people speeding and blowing through stop signs.

This creates a unsafe environment and is not aligned with our local way of life or even what a neighborhood street should look and feel like.

The lack of safety and negligence of drivers is not up for debate. What is up for debate is why the City of Manhattan Beach is not actively doing anything about it already.

Soft measures like re-stripping, increased enforcement, blinky stop signs, do not go far enough to address this issue. The only way to mitigate the speed with which people traverse these streets is to implement legitimate traffic calming measures like speed humps, lane narrowing, diverters, chicanes, etc...

We are calling on the city of Manhattan Beach to immediately take up this safety issue and restore safety and hopefully a little sanity to our streets.
