Hello everyone. This Wednesday, Remembrance Day, is a chance for us all to honour, remember, and respect the sacrifices made by brave men and women.

This Remembrance Day, will you wear a yellow armband to pay tribute to our bravest?

Yellow is the colour symbol of post-traumatic stress disorder – the mental-health condition suffered by my son, Petty Officer David Stafford Finney, before he took his life last February.

This Remembrance Day I will be in Canberra, delivering yellow armbands to federal politicians. I do not want them to forget my son, or the nations’ rising veteran suicide toll.

We will remember all our veterans – including those who have fallen on home soil – and I will make absolutely sure that the government remembers my son.

Please, when you stand in silence at 11 am on 11/11, wear a yellow armband and show your support for ALL our veterans.

I remain,
Julie-Ann Finney, proud mother of Dave Stafford Finney.

If you or someone you know needs help, please phone Lifeline on 131 114, Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.
