A big thank-you to our supporters! 1,500 of you have signed our petition to Taunton Deane Borough Council to abandon a plan to borrow £16,000,000 of taxpayers’ money to build an hotel on Firepool. TAUNTON HAS SPOKEN WITH ONE VOICE. You are asking the Council to create the demand FIRST. Not put the cart before the horse! With high street retail in crisis, you want to see innovative, forward looking businesses attracted to Taunton. The biggest request is for a large and flexible entertainment/conference venue on Firepool. You want to make Firepool a great destination for visitors and tourists … like a visitor centre (think Eden Project) celebrating the wild life, flora and fauna of the Quantocks, the Somerset Levels, the Blackdowns and Exmoor.
