This is a local petition, for those who live, work or study in Leicester or Leicestershire. We are  passionate volunteers of Team Zebra, requesting that our councils provide a safe place to stop and cross in the middle of Humberstone Lane LE4. U.K. 

Every time we step out of our doors on the Humberstone Lane LE4, whether as children, elderly or  wheelchair users, we put our lives at risk due to the lack of safe crossing points. Many have witnessed accidents, and the struggle and danger when walking to school. We see the panic when our elderly neighbours are dodging the traffic and trying to get to the doctors and shops. Our cyclists are at risk too. To put it simply, there is no-where safe to stop and cross on this very long stretch of the Lane, other than at each end only.  

Over the past 20 years there have been new businesses and housing developments, significantly increasing both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Today there are more heavy vehicles using the Lane than ever before. 

What is the problem?  There is no safe place to stop and cross in the middle of Humberstone Lane. Nobody should be dodging the traffic. No driver should be guessing where to stop and wait.

What is the solution? This is a call for action. For the two councils of the city and shires, to find a solution. A pedestrian crossing needs to be installed.

How can you do your bit? By signing this petition you will make an impact and save lives. We need signatures before the councils will take action.
