We Have Waited Years for This Moment. Now Is the Time to Act!
This week, I’ve been in Washington, D.C., participating in a survivor summit with advocates and lived experience experts. Pictured above is my friend Breeze Liu, CEO of Alecto AI, a company dedicated to helping victims of image-based sexual abuse remove harmful content online.
Tomorrow, Breeze will again speak alongside lawmakers and other survivors at a press briefing to stress the urgency of the Take It Down Act.
*Watch the event here*
This is the first year the Senate has unanimously passed three IBSA bills: the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the SHIELD Act, and the DEFIANCE Act. These bills would finally create federal protections for victims of tech-facilitated sexual abuse.
If these bills fail, victims will remain unprotected, predators will continue to exploit them, and tech platforms will evade accountability. This is our chance to change that, but only if Congress hears from you now.
***These bills must pass the House before December 20, or they will die. Make the call today. Your voice can make the difference.***
- Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121
- Ask to be connected to your state's Representative. When you reach their office, use this script:
- *"Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am from [Your State]. I am demanding that Congress pass the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the SHIELD Act, and the DEFIANCE Act. These bills are essential to protecting victims of tech-facilitated sexual abuse, holding platforms accountable, and ensuring justice for survivors. They must pass before December 20. Please make sure these urgent protections are included in the law. Thank you."*
Why This Matters
Without these laws, victims will remain vulnerable to abuse, tech platforms will continue to enable harm, and predators will face no consequences. We cannot let this happen.
These bills result from years of advocacy and bipartisan work. Tomorrow’s press briefing at the White House is a moment to draw attention to this issue, but your call to Congress will make the difference.
***Please call today and share this message with your friends and family.***
Together, we can make history and finally protect victims from tech-facilitated sexual abuse.
In solidarity,
Danielle Green
