A number of people have raised the questions about my past. I felt I ought to clarify this issue here instead of replying to endless messages. 1. I am not an Indian citizen. I never have been one. 2. I was born in the UK and am therefore a British citizen. My religion is irrelevant. My father was a Hindu. I do not practice any religion at all. I have read most of the religious texts over the years and have great respect for the wisdom in them. 3. My family originate from Bangladesh. I do have enstranged relatives in India. 4. I have no political affiliations with any party or group in Jammu Kashmir, India or Pakistan. I have no intention of joining any political group either. 5. My interest in Kashmir arose after I researched a piece on the high rate of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Jammu Kashmir. http://www.ibtl.in/column/1355/post-traumatic-stress-disorder-%E2%80%93-the-kashmir-scenario/ , Many will notice that this piece was published by IBTL. I did leave this publication after I discovered its connections with the BJP India. 6. I followed the above piece by writing a number of articles on the Huffington Post. Troubled Waters http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/rita-pal/kashmir_b_5823072.html Human Rights Abuses in Kashmir http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/rita-pal/human-rights-abuses-in-ka_b_2259557.html Rape in Kashmir http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/rita-pal/rape-in-kashmir_b_3372513.html The Kashmir Healthcare Crisis http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/rita-pal/kashmir-healthcare_b_5937370.html The above pieces were written without financial remuneration. They are public interest pieces. 6. I do not have any financial links to companies or organisations in Jammu Kashmir or India. 7. My background can be read here . https://www.drritapal.com/en/about . The rest can be researched on Google.com 9. I have petitioned for India to agree to United Nations funding during the floods. Of course, Indians online censored this petition. I was sent huge levels of hate mail and death threats. I did though try and carry on. https://www.change.org/p/narendra-modi-and-the-indian-government-agree-to-united-nations-aid-for-kashmirflood-victims 10. My contact with the United Nations involves issues concerning whistleblowing in the United Kingdom. The submissions were published with that of Wikileaks and others here http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/FreedomOpinion/Pages/ProtectionOfSources.aspx 11. All human rights campaigns by me are in memory of my father's work. His name was Mr Prafulla Chandra Pal, BSc [hons] MBBS, DTM&H FRCS, a Consultant Surgeon who always believed that self help is the best help. One person does make a difference however little and secondly, we must carry on no matter what obstacles are thrown in our way. Real winning is about never giving up and always having hope. If there are any further questions, please do contact me. I hope I have clarified all concerns that have been raised from Jammu Kashmir. I hope we can now all focus on the very important task ahead - to raise the voices of the Kashmiri people so that the United Nations investigates India. We have a long hard road ahead to reach this goal but if every person works hard to achieve this, we can and will do it.
