A Declaration of Independence 2.0

     When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with a government grown tyrannical, and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.


     We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all People are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among the People, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.


     Such has been the patient sufferance of these United States and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present Federal Government is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let the following facts be submitted to a candid world.


It has refused to secure the Borders of these States, permitting an unchecked invasion by millions of foreigners, thereby endangering the safety, sovereignty, culture, and resources of the People.

It has imposed burdensome Taxes without the true consent of the governed, extracting ever greater portions of their labor and property to fund endeavors contrary to the common good.

It has driven the Cost of Living to intolerable heights through reckless monetary and regulatory policies, rendering shelter, sustenance, and energy unaffordable to multitudes of Citizens.

It has engaged in profligate and unconstitutional Spending, amassing a National Debt of more than thirty-five trillion dollars that mortgages the labor of generations yet unborn.

It has permitted the degradation of the Quality of Food supplied to the People, allowing industrial adulterants, seed oils, pesticides, and genetically altered crops to flood the marketplace, weakening the bodies and minds of the Nation.

It has colluded with a rapacious Pharmaceutical Industry in the systematic poisoning of the People through addictive opioids, unnecessary vaccines, and lifetime regimens of costly drugs that treat symptoms while the root causes of chronic illness are ignored or concealed.

It has entangled the Nation in endless foreign Wars and/or interventions, squandering the blood of our youth and the treasure of our people without declaration, victory, or honorable end.

It has erected a multitude of Surveillance agencies and sent forth swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance under the pretext of security.

It has fostered rampant Corruption among its officials, permitting lobbyists, corporations, and foreign powers to purchase legislation and betray the public trust.

It has debased the Currency through endless money-printing, eroding the savings and wages of the People while enriching a privileged few.

It has made Judges dependent on the executive will alone and obstructed Justice by the selective prosecution of political enemies and the immunity of the connected.

It has divided the People through calculated partisan strife, inflaming brother against brother until the bonds of civic friendship lie in ruins.

It has neglected the Infrastructure of the Republic, allowing roads, bridges, and power grids to decay while pouring trillions into foreign lands and favored industries.

It has imposed an intolerable weight of Regulations that crush enterprise, innovation, and the simple pursuit of happiness beneath bureaucratic despotism.

     In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Government whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant is unfit to be the ruler of a free people. Nor have we lacked diligence in our duty toward our fellow Americans. For generations we have sounded the alarm through every medium available to us (across kitchen tables, at work, at church, on social media platforms, in town halls and public squares) of the relentless advance of a government that now claims jurisdiction far beyond the limits set by our Constitution and the consent of the governed. We have reminded our fellow Americans that this Republic was formed out of a fierce resolve to live as free People under laws of our own making and was not intended to become a tyrannical ghost of our past with many rulers parading as “representatives” of our People. 


     We have appealed to their native sense of justice, to the magnanimity that once defined the American character, and we have conjured them by the sacred ties of a common blood, a common struggle, and a common inheritance bought with the sacrifices of our forefathers, to rise and cast off these mounting usurpations before they sever forever the bonds of affection and mutual reliance among the States and their people. Yet to these warnings and entreaties they have turned a deaf ear. Some, blinded by party loyalty, others lulled by temporary comfort, and still others ensnared by the very interests that feed upon centralized power, have chosen silence or complicity over the hard demands of liberty.


      Therefore, with grief but with unshaken resolve, we acquiesce in the stern necessity that now compels our separation from a government that has forgotten its purpose and betrayed its trust. And we declare to those who cling to that government what we declare to all the world: they shall be to us, as the rest of mankind: Enemies in War, Friends in Peace. 


     We, the free Citizens of these United States, before the eyes of the world, do now solemnly publish and declare our sacred intent: That we withdraw our consent from a government that has forsaken its purpose and trampled the liberties it was created to defend.


     From this day forward, we stand resolved no longer as mere subjects of a tyrannical government, but as sovereign heirs of 1776, bound only by the Constitution our forefathers bled to bequeath us. We pledge our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor to the great work of restoration of our nation. With hearts ablaze and hands steady, we will reclaim what is ours: through the peaceful might of millions refusing unjust laws, through the lawful thunder of an Article V Convention, through the fearless interposition of our States, and, if Providence so decrees and justice so demands, through the righteous and orderly dissolution of bands that have become chains.


   We do not ask for liberty; we rekindle it.

   We do not beg for freedom; we seize it.


Let the tyrants tremble at the sight of a people awakened. Let posterity record that in our generation, when the night seemed darkest, Americans once more chose courage over comfort, principle over privilege, and the hard path of honor over the easy road of servitude.


    This is not the end of our Republic, it is our rebirth.


In full assurance of that triumph, we set our hands and seal our hearts to this cause for ourselves, for our children, and for all who yearn to breathe free.


We sign, we rise, and we prevail.
