Here we go again.  After 2 prior petitions led to the release of Titan and Buster Brown who were being kept in solitary confinement, we are looking to help Lance who has endured too much mistreatment at the same horribly run municipal shelter in Hempstead New York.  Can we give the  gift of freedom to Lance this holiday season??

Lance was involved in an altercation right near his kennel in run 4 on September 27, 2025.  In order to break up the incident , the alleged, so called trainer repeatedly kicked Lance to his abdomen and face .  What kind of trainer does this? This is not proper technique when intervening in an altercation.    This incident shows that safety for the animals, volunteers and staff is just not a priority at this shelter.   Lance was taken back to his kennel.  Absolutely no vet care was provided.  He was moved off the adoptions floor into the back essentially to rot in isolation.  It was not determined that Lance initiated the incident either.  The facts we have obtained show that his kennel was left unlocked.  He was able to get out as another dog was being walked by.  He latched onto the other dog. 

So we ask several things:

Why was this trainer not terminated for abusing Lance?

Why did Lance not receive vet care?

Why is Lance being punished when none of this was his fault? Had his kennel been properly secured by staff this entire incident would not have occurred. Similar to both Titan and Buster Brown,  he is in solitary confinement, NO WALKS, NO YARD TIME. NO FRESH AIR ! THIS IS CRUELTY and it also violates NY State laws. This has been going on for 2 months!

What will be Lance’s future if we don’t get him rescued soon? Most likely they will murder him.  We can’t stand by and let these people, who frequently do not adhere to proper protocol, get away with the mistreatment of a dog they are supposed to be sheltering.   

Please sign our petition and help us save Lance.  We are asking for a proper evaluation by a trained professional and that he be released to a rescue for further care and eventually a loving home. Please share the petition.   A widespread social media campaign makes this town’s elected officials uncomfortable with the attention we are bringing to their mis-management of the animal shelter. They seem to learn nothing and continue to warehouse dogs as this somehow aligns with their political agenda.  Please help us effect change for yet another voiceless pup.  We sincerely thank you for reading our petition and for your consideration.
