A Celebration for our Blue Jays

The Issue

Look, we are all feeling it. That heavy-heart as our beloved Blue Jays couldn't carrying home the championship trophy in this year’s World Series. But to us, they have always been the champions of our hearts.

This season — these players, those games — was nothing short of remarkable and record-breaking. Never have we seen a team so bonded, so committed to showing up every single day for one another, for their fans, and for this country. That feeling of gratitude is palpable.

To think that this team or these players might walk away feeling even the slightest sense of failure, or that they let us down, feels so wrong. They have done so much for this city and for the game itself. This is a team like no other. They know it, we know it, and they deserve to be appreciated. They deserve to see the smiles they put on all our faces, and the voices lost cheering on all the record making games they gave us this season. They deserve to feel the love no matter the prize.

Who wants to see it end like this? Who doesn’t want to thank them in proper fashion? Who else has watched over and over again their interviews about what this team and city has meant to them? Who else has felt that extra little bit of magic when they all take to the field? Who else has witnessed each and every player have their breakout moment and find their unique individuality that cemented this team into a family? What if we gave this team a send-off worthy of their efforts — a massive thank-you, a true celebration of what this season has meant to us all?

Let’s sign this and make it happen. Call on the city for a celebration, parade or not, a day to give our thanks to the birds. In today’s world, it isn’t about a name etched on a piece of metal — it’s about celebrating the moments and people that bring us together. Who cares if they aren't recorded "winners"? They're champs to us. We need more reminders of what teamwork, friendship, and shared passion can create. No matter the outcome, this team are true winners — of our hearts, our respect, and our city. Let's give it to our birds, and the power of friendship.
