A Call to Save Nigerian Football And Protect The Soul of Our Nation

A Call to Save Nigerian Football And Protect The Soul of Our Nation
The Issue
We, the people of Nigeria, players, coaches, parents, fans, supporters, and citizens make this petition as a cry from our hearts.
Football is the one thing that unites over 200 million Nigerians across tribe, religion, class, and politics. It is our joy, Our identity,Our hope, Our last true national glue.
But today, Nigerian football is suffering, Not because we lack talent, Not because our youths are lazy, Not because God has stopped blessing us. It is suffering because the system that governs our football is broken. The dreams of millions of young Nigerians are being buried under corruption, opacity, recycled leadership, weak accountability, and an electoral process that does not represent the people whose lives depend on football.
While other African nations rise, Morocco, Senegal, etc. Our football continues to fall behind because a tiny group of 44 people decide the future of the entire game. A country of 200 million football lovers cannot be controlled by 44 people. We refuse this, We reject this, We demand better.
We petition you our lawmakers, our sports leaders, our football administrators not out of anger alone, but out of LOVE for the country. Love for the boy in Ajegunle who sleeps with his boots under his pillow, Love for the girl in Lafia who trains on bare ground, Love for the local clubs who survive without support, Love for our national teams who fight with their hearts, Love for the unity that football brings every time Nigeria plays
Nigerian football deserves a leadership that reflects the people. We demand reforms that will:
1. Make the NFF electoral process democratic and transparent
Term limits for NFF officials
Term limits for State FA chairmen
Expanded voting rights (players, coaches, referees, clubs, women’s football, supporters)
Public congress records
Public electoral guidelines conducted in the open
2. Ensure financial transparency
Annual financial reports
FIFA Forward funds fully disclosed
Independent audits published
3. Strengthen grassroots development
Real investment in youth football
Functional academies and local leagues
Structured pathways for young talents
4. Restore the dignity of Nigerian football
Fair treatment of players
Professional administration
Protection against corruption and abuse of office
We submit this petition because Nigerian football is not just a sport, it is the emotional heartbeat of our nation. When our football rises, the whole country rises. When our football suffers, the whole country feels it.
This is not just about goals or trophies.
This is about identity
This is about national pride
This is about unity
This is about the future of our children
This is about telling the world that Nigeria can rise again.
We sign this petition because we believe that a better NFF is possible
A more transparent system is possible
A more accountable leadership is possible
A more united football community is possible.
We ask our leaders to act, Not for politics…Not for positions…But for Nigeria.
This is a patriotic call.
This is an emotional call
This is a national call.
This is a cry to save Nigerian football before more dreams die silently.
We, the people, stand together.
Nigeria deserves better
Nigerian football deserves better.
The next generation deserves better.
