We have been asking for a cafe in Hackney Downs and other improvements for years. We now want Hackney Council to make it happen. Hackney Downs is right in the centre of Hackney, serves a huge population and is surrounded by social housing and people living in flats without gardens. It deserves action. 

We’ve created a map showing the improvements we’d like to see, including: • A new café in the new pavilion • A Flower Garden in the old Bowling Green • New play features for older kids • An improved children’s natural play area in the existing ‘dog free’ zone. We’ve created a map where you can see our proposals.

It doesn’t need to cost the earth. We know local gardeners and landscapers who can help and we can help make it happen if the council commits to working with us. We can help for example, create the Flower Garden; and we can help fundraise for new play areas or to convert the pavilion to a café.

Hackney Downs has huge potential to have many more attractive features for local people to enjoy. Let's make it happen.
