Coverage in Sakal . In ongoing PIL 218/2013 one can see the callous attitude of authorities responsible for preservation of our environment and wetlands. 1. The UDD vide its notification of October 2016 changed land use of 20 hectares from NDZ to Regional Park Zone subject to MCMZA approval and .85 hectares without any condition to predominantly residential zone. 2. When this notification was challenged in high court the CIDCO filed an affidavit saying that it is only a conditional approval and said that these issues will be duly considered in threadbare details by the relevant authorities of State Government. However MCZMA affidavit of June 2017 states that clarification was sought from CIDCO whether the land under reference is wetland and MCZMA authority noted the clarification from CIDCO stating that the land under reference is not a wetland !!! No other effort was made by MCZMA to find the truth . This is contrary to affidavit of DCF , Mangroves cell dated 4th October 2017 which after joint inspection on 27th september 2017 found both these lands wetlands and part of National wetland inventory prepared by SAC , Ahmedabad and MRSAC , Nagpur .
