511 S. Oak Knoll is too big, too boxy

511 S. Oak Knoll is too big, too boxy
The Issue
This four-story condo complex at 511 S. Oak Knoll Ave. does not follow City of Pasadena Design Guidelines and will destroy the historic character of the neighborhood.
Please sign to ask city council to reconsider this design which:
- Does not follow City of Pasadena Design Guidelines. Its four-story boxy design extends nearly to the property line, which will destroy the historic character of the neighborhood.
- Will cause light pollution 24/7 for neighbors with its odd exterior hallway design. In addition, the minimal interior courtyard doesn’t allow enough light to bottom floors for residents of 511.
- Encloses gardens to an interior courtyard instead of on the outside for all to enjoy.
- Encroaches on an historic, protected oak tree.
- Adds traffic to already-impacted nearby McKinley School which now home to Eliot Arts magnet school due to the Eaton fire.
- Over time, this poorly designed building will likely depreciate along with neighboring properties. We support additional housing in our neighborhood, but want it to be thoughtfully designed for both new homeowners and for existing homeowners.
Our appeal will be heard by Pasadena City Council on Monday, March 23, at 5 p.m.
Please support thoughtfully designed housing for all by signing our petition.
