The Issue

"50% Property Tax Cap for All Honorably Discharged Veterans in Wayne/Westland, MI”

---

Petition Description

Our veterans have selflessly served this country, often enduring significant sacrifices for our freedom and security. In recognition of their service, we propose that all honorably discharged veterans residing in Wayne/Westland, Michigan, receive a significant property tax relief, regardless of disability status.

We propose:

A maximum of 50% property tax payment for all honorably discharged veterans.

Veterans with a VA disability rating would remain eligible for further reductions based on a sliding scale (e.g., 70% exemption for 70% disability).

This policy ensures no veteran pays more than half of their property taxes while providing additional relief to disabled veterans who face unique challenges.

Implementing this initiative will:

Ease the financial burden on veterans and their families.

Make Wayne/Westland, MI, a leader in veteran support and attract more veteran residents to our community.
