Help #ShieldTheElderly and Vulnerable - do their shopping!

My husband died 3 years ago of the the flu. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering #Covid-19 and their families. I have direct experience of something like it and it is horrific! 

We can all help combat this lethal virus if we shield the elderly and vulnerable by helping them stay at home and self isolate. 

It is pretty simple, offer to do their shopping. This prevents them from circulating and touching buttons at the check out, meaning that they will have less chance of catching this highly contagious disease. This small action will help protect our NHS and save lives. It is by everyone helping out in our communities and caring for each other that we will make a difference.

The virus lives on plastic for around 3 days. So when you kindly deliver the shopping stay two meters away and make sure that your neighbour takes the shopping in wearing gloves, good old marigolds will do, and then cleans all the bits and pieces that you have bought for them (or leaves them in the bag for 3 days) to avoid contamination. This horrible virus might live in a freezer for two years, so freezing purchases might cause them to be fatal in future! This is why our elderly neighbours need regular deliveries of fresh food. 

So who can you help? Who could you shop for? Who could you phone just to say “hello”?
