50:50 has inspired more than 50 women to stand #GE2019

50:50 Parliament is thrilled to announce that the #AskHerToStand and #SignUpToStand Campaigns have successfully inspired more than 50 women to stand in the 2019 General Election.

This is the result of relentless campaigning and our inspirational #AskHerToStand day on 21 November 2018 when over 300 women from across the UK visited Westminster.

Since then over 900 women have gone on to #SignUpToStand via our website.

Ultimately the number of women being returned to Westminster this time will depend upon the result of the General Election and whether women are standing in winnable seats. But 50:50 Parliament will keep campaigning to inspire women and work with all the political parties to ensure that we build the best possible democracy that includes talented and experienced women.

About 50:50 Parliament
 
50:50 Parliament works across the political spectrum in taking action to improve the gender balance in the UK Parliament. With our #AskHerToStand and #SignUpToStand campaigns 50:50 inspire, encourage and support women on the way to Westminster. Over 900 women have signed up to stand via the 50:50 website and a team of volunteers are now mentoring and monitoring these women's progress to Parliament. 50:50 have been called the new girl’s network, together, they aim to build a better democracy.
