On 21 Nov 50:50 hit ITV news with our inspirational #AskHerToStand day in Parliament, see & like the clip on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ3JHSlQI9Q Our message was clear women want equal seats and equal say! One hundred years after the legislation was passed allowing women to stand 50:50 is demanding political equality and inspiring women to stand. Not only did we get this amazing photo in the heart of Westminster but we also achieved nationwide media coverage see other press here: www.5050Parliament.co.uk/press The #AskHerToStand hashtag was trending. (Please “like” and share any good 50:50 press you see.)
50:50 Parliament is a non-partisan organisation with a clear aspiration. We are taking action to encourage and support women in standing for elected office and monitoring their progress along the path to Parliament. We are putting pressure on Parliament and the parties to break down the barriers to political participation. 21 November was an inspirational day for many and had an immediate impact. During the next twenty four hours over 50 women went to the 50:50 website to #SignUpToStand. The 50:50 team of volunteers are now helping them take the next step along the path to Parliament. This brings the total number of women who have signed up to stand via 50:50 this year to more than 350. We would like to reach 500+ by the year end.
50:50 need “Deeds and words” here are 10 actions that you can take to help the cause:

The next big date is 14 December, which marks the centenary of the General Election when women could both stand and vote for the first time ever.
