On 24 April at 11.00 am join 50:50 with many others at the unveiling of one of the most significant statues of our time – suffragist, Millicent Fawcett. This is first ever statue of a woman in Parliament Square, and the first ever statue there to be created by a woman artist, Gillian Wearing OBE. London Mayor Sadiq Khan will be attending with other guests including Caroline Criado Perez, whose petition to get the first statue of a woman in Parliament Square was signed by almost 85,000 people along with journalist Mishal Husain, Helen McCrory and poet Theresa Lola. This year marks a century since the start of women’s suffrage in the UK - one of our country’s most pivotal moments – and the unveiling of this landmark piece will be one of the key celebrations of this year. 50:50 will be at this historic occasion loud and proud in our campaign t-shirts calling for equal representation not just in Parliament square but in Parliament itself. If you want to join us email FrancesScott@5050Parliament.co.uk or sign up on eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/5050-at-unveiling-of-fawcett-statue-tickets-45326236995. 50:50 will meet at 10.30 at Westminster station and head to the square at 10.45. Look forward to seeing you there! Frances, Millicent, Peter, Sonia, Dolly, Laura, Elaine and all the #5050Parliament #AskHerToStand Team
