Today a report by the Women's and Equalities Select Committee was published which quotes #5050Parliament and agrees that if "only 30 per cent of MPs are women; this constitutes a serious democratic deficit" and says "Campaign group 50:50 Parliament stated in its evidence that gender balance in the Commons is a means of utilising the widest pool of talent to build a better informed Parliament." See report here: http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201617/cmselect/cmwomeq/630/630.pdf and read our submission with all the solutions and reasons why gender balance is better here: http://data.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/committeeevidence.svc/evidencedocument/women-and-equalities-committee/women-in-the-house-of-commons-after-the-2020-election/written/39361.pdf It is fantastic that Parliament is listening and that all our campaigning efforts are making a difference! Thanks to all of you for supporting our crucial movement for a more inclusive, gender balanced Parliament, because it would be better for everyone! Please keep sharing the petition and asking all your friends to sign by following 50:50 on facebook at facebook.com/5050Parliament and twitter @5050Parliament. Let's celebrate!
