Wow it’s been a wonderful week for women’s equality! The amazing Suffragette film is on general release, the new Women’s Equality Party launched and signatures surged on the 50:50 Parliament Petition. A massive thank you for all your support! We were so excited that Carey Mulligan demonstrated for 50:50 Parliament at the Suffragette Film Premier (click on the link below for more information). She enthusiastically posed for photos with a campaign placard on the red carpet asking everyone to SIGN the petition. It was a mega moment, makes sense too, petitions play an important part in the political process, the Suffragette movement started with the 1866 petition. We love what she says: “I think it would be a better world if it were run equally - we’re still so far from that.” Just to round the week off nicely, on Saturday and Sunday, it is the fabulous Feminism in London Conference. 50:50 Parliament will be presenting with Helen Pankhurst (Emmeline Pankhurst’s great grand-daughter) and Sophie Walker, Leader of the Women’s Equality Party. Do come over to say “hello” at our stand if you are going to be there, you can book here: http://www.feminisminlondon.co.uk/register-now/ Please keep raising 50:50 Parliament awareness by: sharing this update, liking facebook.com/5050Parliament and sharing our posts and following and retweeting us on twitter @5050Parliament. Like Carey Mulligan keep asking everyone who believes in gender equality to sign change.org/5050Parliament. Have a great weekend! Frances, Sadaf, Charlie, Tina and everyone on the 50:50 Parliament Team.
