50/50 Equal Parenting Rights petition

50/50 Equal Parenting Rights petition
The Issue
This isn't about blame it's about responsibility
I know parenting isn’t easy—mums and dads both face challenges, and sometimes life gets overwhelming. But I’ve seen too many dads who want to be involved with their kids get pushed out or blocked from playing an active role.
That absence hurts children deeply—especially young boys who need their dads to help them learn how to manage emotions like anger, frustration, and play. When dads aren’t there, kids can sometimes turn to unhealthy role models who don’t teach respect, especially towards women.
This petition isn’t about blaming mothers—it’s about making sure both parents share responsibility equally, unless there’s a real risk to the child’s safety.
When dads are involved, families are stronger. Kids grow up with better emotional balance and respect for everyone.
Please sign to help make 50/50 parental responsibility the law—because every child deserves to have both parents actively involved in their life's
Who is affected?
Thousands of children in the UK grow up without both parents equally involved in their lives. Many dads want to be there but are pushed out or blocked, leaving overwhelmed mums to carry all the responsibility alone. This imbalance can hurt children—especially boys—who need their dads to help them learn how to regulate emotions, play, and develop respect for others.
What is at stake?
If nothing changes, children will continue to miss out on having both parents actively involved. This can lead to emotional difficulties, knife crime and unhealthy role models shaping their views —especially around respect for women. Families will stay strained, and one parent will keep shouldering the emotional and practical burden alone, which isn’t fair or sustainable.
Why is now the time to act?
We need Parliament to make 50/50 parental responsibility the default legal standard, unless there is a real risk to the child’s safety. Sharing responsibility equally strengthens families and supports children’s emotional well-being. The time to act is now—to ensure every child has the chance to grow up with both parents fully engaged in their lives.
