CEO Steven Farley and CPO Christian Gonzalez knowingly and unethically sent healthy rescued small animals ready for adoption to Colten Jones/The Fertile Turtle who is a python breeder that also sells and breeds rabbits and other small animals as live and frozen feeder animals.  

Farley/Gonzales blatantly lied to the media stating the animals were sent to a private family rescue and adopted out to families.  This vile despicable act was planned out and executed upon intake.

We the petitioners demand Farley and Gonzalez be investigated outside of their board (who clearly had no oversight) and if found guilty be held accountable by law for their deceitful cruel practices toward animals and for defrauding the public who donated to them.  

We the petitioners also ask that the HSSA be investigated and held accountable for every animal sent to Colten Jones during the several years they have had a working relationship.  We also ask that Christian Gonzalez be investigated and held accountable for any possible prey animals that he may have taken out of the shelter under his care since he was hired.  Violation of trust is unacceptable!

“What the Humane Society has called a rescue, led by the Jones, does not have any official designation or non-profit status and has not been vetted in any formal way. As well, Colten Jones runs an informal business online called The Fertile Turtle, which has advertised selling both live and frozen animals for snake feed”.

The Fertile Turtle’s Facebook has been inactivated since this news story came out.  The page shows photos of live baby bunnies and other small animals used for live and frozen reptile food which you can View Here. 
 Instagram account also shut down today 10/1/23.

Finding these animals alive would be nothing less than a miracle.
