3 Way Stop Sign at Glenmary Ave. & Brookline Ave.

The Issue

Dear Neighbors –

It is hard to believe that six years have passed since we worked together to have a crosswalk installed at the intersection of Glenmary Ave and Brookline Ave.  At the time, we also requested a 3 Way Stop at this same intersection, which obviously was not installed.  We continue to believe that a 3 Way Stop would increase the safety of both pedestrians and motorists. We intend to bring this request back to the city.

For anyone who lives in or walks along this area, it is clear that this intersection poses a real risk to pedestrians and vehicles alike. It is not at all uncommon to see visually impaired persons, children, dog walkers or people on casual walks tentatively trying to cross using the designated crosswalk.  It is also not at all uncommon to see cars blowing through this intersection as people try to safely cross.

This pocket of Clifton is a residential neighborhood with a posted Speed Limit of 25 MPH.  Several students from Fairview-Clifton German Language School, Clifton Area Neighborhood School (CANS) and Romero Academy at Annunciation live in this area of Clifton - let's help families feel more comfortable allowing their children to walk to school by supporting  safer walking routes and crosswalks.  Additionally, there is regular foot traffic through here in route to the library, Ludlow and Burnet Woods.  A 3 Way Stop will make this crosswalk and intersection a much safer crossing for all. Given that there are stop signs located on many of Clifton's residential streets, this request should not seem unreasonable to the city.

With that in mind please consider taking a moment to sign this petition so that our voices can be heard by the city.  Lastly, we found that personal stories and experiences were very impactful for city officials when we approached them last time.  Please also write in the comments any dangerous experiences or observations you have had at this intersection.

In support of seeking a 3 way stop, we will be sharing this petition with the city and local leaders alike.  Thank you for your time and consideration.
