I teach in LA.  We are teaching virtually now.  In other places in this countries teachers are dying from Covid and being forced into classrooms by a mixture of their own sense of duty, misplaced collective guilt and the threat of financial need.

In person School should not be happening and this petition is a tool and resource for those who want to fight being forced to work in unsafe conditions against their will.

The underlying issue here Is that it’s not just their will that is being subverted, coerced and violated whenever Dime school district votes for an unsafe return to the classroom.. it is the sill of everyone.  It is also the legal right if everyone which is being attacked.

Look at the petition, look at the CDC documents.  Look at the law.  Schools, school administrators, and other officials can not let someone who has a positive TB test on campus.  This is to keep others safe.  This standard has been set in our country- and others.  In our country, the standard is precedent and we should demand the same standard with respect to Covid.  If we don’t receive that same standard of protection/ it’s illlegal.  If we allow differ t standards to be applied at the whim of political officials and the economy.. then our system of law will have been completely debased..  Which is why schools must stay closed until there are safe And timely tests for people entering schools- not just a temperature check.  Or a three day old test.
