... Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is the goal. Right now we have 3250 signatures. That’s a lot. And, we have been part of the push to keep schools closed this fall.
In making this push all of you, all of us have made sectors of society take note of the other items that are going unaddressed that are necessary to keep us safe.
This is good.
We’ve also given our leaders documented positions to support changes favorable to us. This is also good.
This, is my first petition. It’s not my first action to affect policy. I’m no expert at it but I have learned that silence in the face of an unfair situation is not good. I encourage everyone to go to their city council and school board meetings a couple of times a year. Make it a thing you do with your friends and family. And if there is something you want to voice an opinion about- and most likely there will be something, someday- the sign up to comment for 3 minutes.. and you will be heard. And then, persist. Like Elizabeth Warren.
I also know that our leaders.. quite often don’t know any more than us. In this present situation this is abundantly clear. The difference, between a policy that meets the needs of one.. or a policy that meets the needs of all I feel is often the lack of voices. We ca not just vote.. and then expect our leaders to get it right for as many of us as they can if we are not giving input constantly. Now, leaders may not like this.. but if they don’t.. well then they can always be replaced. A representative.. is supposed to represent the voice of the people in a meeting, gather information, go back to their constituents and share the info out, discuss the issues and then decide how to vote. Period. A representative does not get to decide for the people they represent. We let our Reid do this too much. That, is on us. So, this petition.. and your signing it. Is a great thing. Because we participate. Thank you fir supporting this one. I look forward to supporting yours one day.
