WEAPONS DETECTION INSTALLATION AT E.T.H.S. - URGENT

WEAPONS DETECTION INSTALLATION AT E.T.H.S. - URGENT
The Issue
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, two guns were confiscated from ETHS students, while nearly 4000 students and staff huddled in their rooms for hours under a terrifying lockdown. It was not a great day to be a Wildkit.
Our E-Town kids and staff deserve to learn and teach in a safer environment.
We feel that by installing weapons detection at ETHS, it will
- Help deter people from bringing illegal guns/weapons into the school
- Alert people entering the building that there is a penalty (school expulsion) for carrying a firearm, stun gun, or taser on school property and
- Show zero tolerance for such violence in our community.
We respectfully ask the 202 Board:
1. To commit to researching weapons detector vendors by the February 7th, 2022 Board Meeting
2. To present the findings to the community by the March 14th, 2022 Board Meeting
3. To include this serious, urgent discussion as an agenda and allow for community feedback by the April 11th, 2022 Board Meeting
We urge the 202 Board to make the right choice for our community and our children and are committed to helping in any way that we can in this endeavor.
ETHS -- We will fight for you!
Thank you,
The Parents, Students, Staff, and Stakeholders of Evanston District 202 and District 65
