Good news is that the refusal to grant a permit for development has been issued by the council (24 November). There are good and valid reasons (shown HERE) why the proposed development should absolutely NOT be allowed as well as others of similar vein popping up in the neighbourhood. The link attached may help you if facing a similar circumstance because as I've come to realise, many developments in the area are happening by stealth - because people feel they don't have the knowledge, the language, the finance, the support from council officers, the energy to stand up and fight for their amenity and neighbourhoods.
I've said it once and will say again, so far, this has been a win for Community - for everyone standing together and supporting this cause. Councillors have made it very clear that because of community support they have thought twice about approving it and have such have voted it down. So THANKYOU from the bottom of my heart.
The next stage at VCAT may not be as easy due to fast tracked implemented planning laws (that most definitely went under the radar in September) but if VCAT continue to see community support, this development and the precedents it will set, will ultimately fail.
I will continue to keep you posted as new information comes to light. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
