

Here’s Casper, an actual victim of a backyard breeder!
When the greeder determined he was sick (no profit) he was dumped at a construction site.
The animal shelter decided within 24 hours that he would die at 4pm on Friday September 3rd even prior to becoming available for public adoption.
At 3:30 on Friday we pulled him out of there and are committed to his recovery and punishing backyard breeders for their cruelty!

EENT: copious purulent nasal d/c; ears: clean external ear canals; eyes: no ocular d/c; oral: discolored deciduous dentition
INTEG: healthy skin/coat, dried pink fluid on fur around mouth and on paws
H/L: NMA, NSR; Eupneic, but moist stertor, no abnormal lung sounds appreciated
ABD: NAF
UG: male, only one testicle palpable
M/S/N: cachexia, weak, depressed mentation, poor muscle mass and strength generally PLNs: NAF
A: Weak, depressed, underweight/ cachexic, copious purulent nasal discharge - R/O Bordetella vs distemper vs other infectious
P:
Placed IV catheter, administered 85 ml LRS bolus, Cerenia 1.5mg, ampicillin 10 mg SC, Baytril 7.5 mg PO, doxycycline 3mg PO, dextrose 6 ml PO.
Intake vaccines - DA2PP, Bordetella, also topical Revolution, oral deworming w/ pyrantel.
House in cat recovery w/ signage indicating pt infectious, possible distemper.
Orange alert until 4pm tomorrow, Friday, 09/02/22 - needs Good Sam to take to emergency for full diagnostic work up and hospitalization for treatment.
Prognosis fair, may be poor, depending on underlying etiology and response to treatment.
