Sanctuary Mahi Whenua Gardens and Food Forest

The future of the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua gardens and food forest are assured in the proposed new KiwiBuild housing development at Unitec, announced 25 March 2018. Unitec's Interim CEO Alastair Carruthers visited the Sanctuary and spoke with members of the Society for the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua. He assured us that the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua is safe as we enter a new phase for this land in Unitec. We can continue to use the land as a society. Our thanks to all our supporters and our action group who helped achieve the result we all were striving for but at times seemed near impossible. In an announcement made at Unitec's Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae, the land which includes the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua has been purchased by the Government to be developed into housing.
